Lauder Pty. Ltd. has primarily developed vacant lots for sale to the market but with the final Stage 6 of the Highfields Village Residential Estate they developed a unique house and land package called the POWER Home. Protect Our World Environment Resource Homes addressed the growing awareness for environmentally sustainable design (ESD) outcomes to reduce water consumption and carbon footprints.
Lauder’s Pty. Ltd approach was to develop a quality “spekky” but to incorporate a vast range of water and energy saving initiatives. The result was a 5 green star plus 50% rated dwelling which is virtually independent from the mains water grid.
In conjunction with Crows Nest Shire Council (CNS) who provided purple pipe, recycled waste water to Class A standard (non potable) to the dwelling, Lauder Pty. Ltd. incorporated other energy saving devices including solar hot water, thermal rated glazing, sustainable timber flooring, recycled materials where appropriate, above standard insulation to roof and walls, low VOC (volatile organic compound) paints and laminates, natural green star rated carpets and water wise landscaping.
The POWER Home sold to the market at approx 15% above the average price but the ESD features will enable the owners to substantially reduce their water and energy consumption and the house will maintain its value in years to come as the statutory bar for residential housing rises to address climate change.
The POWER Home was opened officially on 6th December 2006 by the member for Toowoomba North and Attorney General for Queensland the Hon. Kerry Shine MLA in conjunction with Mayor Geoff Patch of Crows Nest Shire Council.
